5 Panel Rapid Drug Screen

When a probation officer, employer, medical review officer, or sports coach wants to determine if someone is using drugs, our urgent care center can provide a rapid panel test for five of the most common types of drugs. Rapid tests are especially beneficial for random drug testing and if reasonable suspicion exists after a workplace injury.

Request a Screening Test for Five Commonly Abused Substances

These five categories of drugs include:

  • Opiates
  • Cocaine
  • Phencyclidine
  • Amphetamines
  • Tetrahydrocannabinol

Patients should refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages or beverages that contain caffeine. It is a good idea to drink plenty of water so that you can provide a urine sample for the laboratory technologist. Urine testing is efficient, and it is offered at a lower cost, making it affordable for federal government agencies that require court-ordered drug testing and workplace drug testing or DOT drug testing.

On-site Drug Testing Procedures

A 5-panel drug test offers results in approximately 24 hours, and if the test is negative, then no additional testing is required. However, if the test results are positive, then additional testing is required which can take between a few days to several weeks. At our urgent care center, all of the urine testings are performed on-site in our facility, so this can prevent problems with the chain of custody of a specimen.

What Happens When a Drug Test Is Positive?

When a patient has a positive test result, it is possible that prescription medications are creating an abnormal result. With a positive test, a physician or a laboratory technician will perform additional drug and alcohol testing services on the urine of a patient.

Why Do You Need Drug Testing?

Many employers require a drug-free workplace. Some employers make their employees take a Rapid Drug Test when they are offered a job. Other times, if an accident occurs at work then the employer may demand their employee take a drug test. An important part of the injury treatment process is collecting a urine sample for drug and alcohol tests. With the results from a drug test, an employee can document that he was not using any illegal substances during an accident, making it easier to apply for benefits such as workers’ compensation.

What Are the Benefits from Rapid Drug Tests?

There are several benefits from rapid drug test screenings, including:

  • Reducing vehicular accidents
  • Preventing injuries from machinery
  • Ensuring that employees are more productive
  • Improving daily attendance
  • Reducing a company’s health insurance costs
  • Avoiding the need for substance abuse recovery programs
  • Stopping financial loss
  • Creating a more cooperative environment in the workplace
