The team at WellCare Urgent Care center will help to relieve you from Bronchitis so you can continue to live a happy and healthy life.
What is Bronchitis?
Bronchitis affects the bronchial tubes. It is an inflammation of these tubes which carry air to the lungs. There are two types of bronchitis, these are:
- Acute Bronchitis: This type of bronchitis improves quickly, usually within 10 days. It is typically caused by viruses and many refer to this as a “chest cold.”
- Chronic Bronchitis: This is characterized by repeated bronchitis. This type of bronchitis is caused by smoking, air pollution, dust, or gases and requires medical attention.
If you are experiencing ongoing bronchitis, you don’t have to live with this. At WellCare Urgent Care center we can help to find the root cause of your symptoms and start treatment.
Symptoms of Bronchitis
There are common symptoms of Bronchitis, these include:
- Shortness of Breath
- Cough
- Fatigue
- Mucus
- Fever and Chills
- Chest Discomfort
If you have acute bronchitis you may also experience cold symptoms. This usually improves within a week; the cough could linger for a few weeks. Chronic bronchitis is characterized as lasting for at least three months with reoccurring episodes in a duration of two years.
Treatments for Bronchitis
Most of the time bronchitis is caused by a viral infection, in these cases, antibiotics are not helpful. But the symptoms can be treated with home-remedies or cough medicine. If you have asthma or allergies, then an inhaler can be helpful to reduce the inflammation. If you have chronic bronchitis then learning breathing exercises can be helpful, as well as removing irritants from your environment.
