Tips to Protect Yourself from Covid-19

Covid-19 has affected a great number of people around the world, and it is still being transmitted today. With new variations out there, things are even more uncertain than they were in 2020. There are, however, some steps you can take to keep yourself, and your family, safe and healthy. Read on for some basic tips to protect yourself from contracting Covid-19.

Get Tested

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of Covid-19, we highly recommend that you get tested. Symptoms may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Shortness of breath
  • Persistent cough and/or sore throat
  • Body or head aches
  • Loss of taste or smell

We offer three different Covid-19 tests, including PCR swab tests, rapid swab tests, and antibody tests. Please schedule a virtual appointment online to discuss your health history and symptoms before coming to WellCare for testing.

Social Distancing

When you are in public, you should take care to be six feet away from others when you can. This will minimize the chances of coming into contact with people who may be affected and not know it. Especially with the new strains, normal flu symptoms could be much more, and not everyone tests frequently.

Mask Up

Masks are a requirement inside a lot of public areas, but you may even want to keep your mask on outdoors if you’re in close quarters with others. Regardless, you will definitely want to make sure your mask is in the correct position – fully covering your mouth and nose. Proper mask placement is the best way to actually see the benefits of wearing one.

Sanitize Hands

In order to keep your hands clean, you should wash them regularly with soap and warm water, or use an alcohol-based sanitizer. Washing your hands ensures that you do not spread the virus to your eyes, nose, or mouth after accidentally coming into contact with an infected surface. Sanitizing will also help to keep any transmission at bay if you already have the illness.

Hands Off

You should take great care to avoid touching your face (or anyone else’s!) throughout the day. You can spread the virus from your hands to your mouth or nose, infecting yourself and others. It’s best to keep your hands to yourself and keep them under your chin.

Disinfect Surfaces

Keeping your home clean by using disinfectant wipes, soap and hot water, or bleach is going to be a crucial step in killing any of the virus that may be lingering on surfaces, including anything you bring into the house from a store or friend’s dwelling. Taking the time to wipe down your counters and tables is an easy and quick way to prevent disease.

Mental Stability

These unusual times can bring about stress and anxiety for many. Taking care of your mental health is important for your entire wellbeing. If you are suffering from anxiety or depression, do not hesitate to seek out professional help. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.
